College Football Postseason Returns to Madison with the Second Annual
“Culver’s Isthmus Bowl” on November 19
Bowl Game Features Top Division III Football Teams from Regional Conferences
MADISON, WIS. (August 3, 2022) – The excitement of the college football postseason returns to Madison on November 19
with the second annual Culver’s Isthmus Bowl. The bowl game will feature one team from the Wisconsin Intercollegiate
Athletic Conference (WIAC) and one from the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW), both Division III
programs. Last year’s game was a high scoring affair between UW-River Falls and Washington University. Tickets will be
available for $15 starting November 1.
“The Culver’s Isthmus Bowl was created to give these young athletes a chance to experience the excitement of a
postseason game,” said Mike Shaw, Founder and Bowl Game Director. “Our second year promises an even better
atmosphere with our new partner, the Sun Prairie Area School District.”
“We are thrilled to participate in the Culver’s Isthmus Bowl again this season against the CCIW. Last year’s event was a
success in every aspect imaginable. We are thankful to Mike Shaw and all of the corporate partners for making this event
possible,” said WIAC Commissioner Danielle Harris.
“The inaugural Isthmus Bowl exceeded my expectations and I know it was a great experience for the student-athletes of
Wash U. The CCIW looks forward to this year's game and a long-term relationship with Bowl Game and the Madison area
community,” said Maureen A. Harty, Executive Director, College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin.
“College football fandom is huge in our community,” remarked Jamie Patrick, Vice President of Madison Area Sports
Commission (MASC). “We are especially excited we can show young football players in Dane County that there are
pathways to college sports that are fun and meaningful.”
This year’s Culver’s Isthmus Bowl will be held at the Bank of Sun Prairie Stadium at Ashley Field, giving the game a new
stadium for the teams to experience. The stadium has equal sized bleachers on each side of the field to give the game a
true neutral site feel.
“The SPASD is excited to partner with the Sun Prairie Chamber of Commerce in hosting this exciting event. We believe it's
an exceptional opportunity to showcase our facility and provide the space and place for talented athletes to compete at the
culmination of their season,” said Bradford Saron, Superintendent of Sun Prairie Area Schools.
“Having Culver’s involved in the first Isthmus Bowl last year brought a smile to my face when told about the opportunity. I
never dreamt that one day we would be sponsoring a College Football Bowl game,” said Culvers CEO Craig Culver. “After a
great game last year and a great response in attendance, we are proud to sponsor The 2022 Isthmus Bowl in Sun Prairie,
Wisconsin between The WIAC Conference and The CCIW Conference.”
This year’s Isthmus Bowl will include an invite-only banquet the night before the game to give both teams the chance to
have an evening of sportsmanship before the competition. For the second year, a portion of ticket sales will benefit Special
Olympics of Wisconsin. For ticketing and game information, visit isthmusbowl.com or contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
